About Us

The Thailand Viola Society (TVS) is a chapter of the umbrella organization of International Viola Society (IVS) and is intended to promote the viola through activities including concerts, competitions, master classes, and meetings for violists and friends of violists. TVS began and still exists as a Facebook group, but the core of TVS has always existed in person at Mahidol University’s College of Music viola faculty and the viola section of Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO).

Outside of the orchestral performing setting the TPO viola section (seen on the cover page of this document) has performed in numerous festivals including the Thailand International Viola Conference and the Thailand International Composition Festival. In the orchestral setting, the viola section has performed in Japan, New Zealand, Myanmar, Laos, and Malaysia.
